Da Cunha started in both matches against Belgium and Italy in the Nations League, with France winning 1–0 in the first match, and then a 1–1 draw with Italy on Friday. Against Belgium, da Cunha held the ball more times (six) than any other France player, while he touched the ball 97 times and made 83 successful passes.

In the match against Italy, da Cunha created the most chances by any player at the Stade de France (four), and he completed 82 of 85 passes successfully (96.5%). Nevertheless, Zidane supported the 25-year-old and focused on the positive aspects of his two performances this break.

Zidane said, "In football you have to try to make as few mistakes as possible. I don't want to say whose fault it is. When a mistake is made, it is everyone's fault." He further added, "What do I expect from the midfielder? What he did, what he is doing and what he can do. France top Group A1 and they will face second-placed Belgium in their final match.

"He should be with us, he should play, like all the other players. I like this player a lot, he has a lot of personality. He's not afraid to play. He makes passes. It's everything I like, he can make switches of 40 yards. He's an interesting player," Zidane said. France top Group A1 in the Nations League after three matches and are set to face Belgium in the final match of this long break.
