Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the oldest goal scorer of the World Cup playoffs

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty for Portugal, making him the oldest footballer to score a goal in the World Cup 2026 playoffs. Ronaldo achieved this feat at the age of 41. With this goal, it is also the 976th goal of his career. Portugal qualified by finishing second in Group K after good performances in their previous group matches. They beat Uzbekistan 5–0 and drew 1–1 against DR Congo, while the match with Colombia ended 0–0. Croatia, on the other hand, finished second in Group L. They lost 2–4 against England, but won against teams from Panama and Ghana.
