Paraguay players surprised by Douay's fall
In a tight contest, Paraguay's defense was breached by a penalty awarded after a VAR review. Kylian Mbappe converted the penalty, his 19th World Cup goal.
Paraguay defended so strongly that a penalty was needed to defeat the South American team. Diego Gomez fouled France's Desire A Douay in the box, although the referee initially allowed play to continue. VAR then intervened, and the official looked to review the footage. He then gave a penalty, and Paraguay's players were no longer able to understand the world. From his gestures, it seemed that this was a deception. But refereeing expert Patrick Ittrich said the officials had made the right decision. "He sticks a foot out, the ball is unplayable, so for me it's a clear penalty," he said on 'Magenta TV'. Kylian Mbappe received the ball from Ousmane Dembele and converted the penalty. This was his 19th goal in the World Cup. He is now second in the World Cup top scorers list and just one goal behind Lionel Messi. The French player is unique and with this goal he can take his team to the quarter-finals.---
