A new wave of hope is now being seen in Newport County. Under the coaching of Hayden Mullins, the team has strengthened its position, remaining unbeaten in the last seven matches, just two points away from the playoff places. The team's situation was worrying last season, when at one point their position was in defence. The previous year, County had managed only one league win, a 2–0 defeat against Cheltenham Town.

Prior to Mullins's appointment, the club had experienced several management changes. But now, Mullins has given stability to the team. He has created a positive atmosphere in the club. Mullins says, "The players are starting to believe in themselves. We are a good team. We have to focus on our strengths."

This season, Newport County defeated Rochdale 3–0 in their first match, with the team featuring a mix of youth and experienced players. County have kept four clean sheets so far, which is much better than last season. Last season, County had conceded 77 goals, whereas this season their defense has conceded only four goals.

Another positive for the club is that their home, Rodney Parade, has now become a stronghold for them. County have three wins and two draws at home, with their first win coming on New Year's Day last season. Mullins has talked about taking advantage of the home environment, which has given his team confidence.

On Friday, Newport County faces York City. If the county wins this match, it will move into the playoff places. Mullins said, "We have to stay positive. It has been very satisfying managing this group."

The credit for this success of the team also goes to their good players, who have taken the club out of difficult situations in the last few years. The club has included young players as well as experienced players in its team, which was very necessary. “We have a good core group that gives us strength,” Mullins said.

Overall, the story of Newport County is an inspiring journey, seeing a new wave of reform.

What will happen next

Newport County will need to maintain their form in the upcoming matches, especially when they play at their home ground. Their strong performances at Rodney Parade could pose a challenge to other League Two clubs. If they maintain similar pace, their chances of making the playoffs will increase.
