Jules Kounde's performances have been excellent for Barcelona last season, making him one of the most talented defenders in La Liga. The interest from big clubs such as Manchester City reflects how high Kounde's potential and valuation is. If City is successful in signing him, it could play an important role in strengthening their defence.

• Manchester City Are Keeping A Keen Eye On This Barcelona Defender: What Will He Bring To The Etihad?.

In a recent report, journalist Greg Belle reported that Manchester City is keeping a close eye on Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. It has been reported that the Manchester club are planning to add the French international to their squad. But, City is facing competition in this matter from many big teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Kounde performed brilliantly for the Catalan club last season, when he made his mark with a number of strong displays in defence. The Frenchman appeared in 47 matches for Barcelona last season, scoring three goals and providing four assists across all competitions. Kounde, 27, is currently one of the most talented full-backs in La Liga. So it comes as no surprise that Manchester City want to add him to their squad next year.

His current contract runs at the Nou Camp until the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for City to sign him at a bargain price this winter or at the end of this season. Kounde is a good tackler and is capable of recovering the ball for the team in his own half. He is adept at kicking the ball when required and also makes good passing through the defence.

Kounde is primarily a right-back, but can also play as a centre-back if needed. However, there are some concerns whether he would be able to successfully transfer to the Premier League if Manchester City add him to their squad next year.

Kounde is expected to bring quality to Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca's defence. He has the potential to fight for a regular first team place at the Etihad Stadium. At the age of 27, Kounde is nearing the prime of his career, which makes him an excellent option for Manchester City to sign him either this January or at the end of this season. Therefore, Maresca should consider increasing their efforts to sign him next year in 2027.

What will happen next

Manchester City will face competition from other major clubs while keeping an eye on Jules Kounde's situation. Kounde's current contract runs until 2030, which could create obstacles to his signing. If City succeed in signing him this winter or at the end of next season, it could be a major blow for La Liga club Barcelona.
