Background

Marc Bernal, who is just 19, is part of Barcelona's midfield development programme. However, with Hansi Flick falling out of priority, his role has been reduced. Liverpool are eyeing Bernal, who could further strengthen their midfield as a talented player coming from the La Liga club.

Why it matters

The uncertainty over Marc Bernal's situation at Barcelona could become a potential opportunity for Liverpool. The young midfielder's technical quality and potential for development could help strengthen Liverpool's midfield. Furthermore, the move would be in line with Liverpool's strategy of developing young talent in the Premier League.

Key points

• Liverpool transfers Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal.
• Liverpool are keeping an eye on Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal, who is facing a lack of playing time under coach Hansi Flick. The club is considering a possible transfer for Bernal as the situation evolves..
• Journalist confirms Liverpool's interest in move for Barcelona midfielder.

Liverpool is constantly looking for potential players to improve its midfield, and in this sequence, the name of Barcelona's young midfielder Marc Bernal has come up. Bernal, who is just 19, is being tracked "closely" by those responsible at Anfield. This could be a crucial situation for Liverpool, with uncertainty rising over his playing time at Barcelona.

However, Bernal has vowed to prove to Hansi Flick that he is worthy of a leading role in the team, but he is currently out of the German coach's priority list. Liverpool are taking time to consider the situation as Bernal plans to assess his situation until the end of the current season to consider the next step in his career.

Given Bernal's technical quality and being part of Barcelona's midfield development programme, it is easy for Liverpool to understand why they are paying attention to him. Liverpool have in recent years focused on players who can develop significantly after arrival. If Bernal becomes frustrated with his situation, it could give other clubs an opportunity to keep an eye on his situation.

Liverpool coach Andreoni Iraola has made positive changes to the team's structure this season, but the midfield still needs improvement. Bernal's potential availability could be a significant opportunity for Liverpool, although the team will also need to see if they can immediately meet Iraola's needs.

Over time, what happens between Bernal and Barcelona will be an important consideration for Liverpool. If Barcelona agrees to Bernal's departure and Bernal expresses his desire to play regularly, Liverpool should definitely consider it. At the moment, this is a situation to watch and not an immediate transfer. For Liverpool, being interested in Bernal is an attractive idea, but fans must immediately ask: "What problem are we really trying to solve?".

Bernal could become an excellent player, but the team needs to maintain balance. Iraola has already shown that he can improve Liverpool structurally, but now he needs specialists to adapt to the needs of his system. If Bernal were to become available for a reasonable price, Liverpool should take advantage of the opportunity.

What will happen next

Bernal plans to assess his situation until the end of the season, giving Liverpool time to monitor his progress. If Bernal does not get playing time at Barcelona, there may be a chance for Liverpool to consider his possible availability. Along with this, other clubs can also keep an eye on his situation.
