In a recent post on X, journalist Juan Jesus reported that Liverpool are planning to compete with AC Milan for Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde. It is reported that the Reds are attempting to bring the Spanish talent to Anfield in the coming year. Balde has played a vital role for the Catalan club this season and has put in some excellent performances at left back.

Balde, 23, has made four appearances for Barcelona in various competitions this campaign. He is currently considered one of the most talented left-backs in La Liga. So it comes as no surprise that the Reds are in the race to sign him next year. His current contract runs until the summer of 2028, which could make it challenging for Liverpool to land him on the cheap in January.

Balde is a good tackler of the ball and he times his challenges well to get the ball back in his own half. He usually kicks the ball well when the opposition is on the offensive and is able to move forward playing out from the back. The Spanish talent is also known to be a good crosser and can score and create goals for his team from the left side. Balde is primarily a left-sided back, but can also operate as a left-sided wide player when required.

However, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to make a smooth transition to the Premier League when he joins Liverpool next year. If the Reds are successful in signing him next year, Balde would help add quality and depth to Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola's defence. He is good enough to compete for a regular first team spot at Anfield in the coming years. At 23 years old, if Balde continues to improve with each season, his future looks very bright. Therefore, the Reds should look for a left-back of their quality in 2027.

What will happen next

Liverpool will have to compete with AC Milan, which is a strong rival, to land Balde. His current contract runs until 2028, which could make a January transfer challenging. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool succeeds in including this young Spanish talent in their team.
