Hanoi FC recorded its first win in the 2026-2027 V-League by defeating Bac Ninh 1-0. In this match, Hanoi FC won thanks to a penalty save and excellent play from a new player. The match was played on 11 October at My Dinh Stadium.

Hanoi FC suffered consecutive defeats at the start of the season, including a 1–3 defeat against Ho Chi Minh City and then a 1–4 defeat against SLNA. Additionally, they were also eliminated by Danang in the first round of the National Cup. Bac Ninh, on the other hand, beat Ho Chi Minh City 1–0 after only losing 0–1 against SLNA in their first match and recorded a 3–2 win against Long An in the National Cup.

Hanoi FC coach Harry Kewell's job is now in danger, but he got a chance to improve his players during the national team break. The team released some notable players, such as defender Cyrus Christie and forward Adam Taggart. However, they were able to add Kevin Felida in midfield, who played 8 years in the Netherlands' second division.

The decisive moment of the match came in the 78th minute, when Felida, sprinting down the right flank, delivered a pass to Nguyen Hai Long, who passed the ball into the box. Taking advantage of this opportunity, forward Andrew Jung scored from close range. The win may have been hard-fought, but it took a huge pressure off Keywell and his players.

However, Bak Nin also tried well. If Brenner had not missed a penalty in the 30th minute, the outcome of the match could have been different. Bac Ninh's team includes several former Hanoi players such as David Fischer, Nguyen Van Cong, Le Van Xuan, and Vu Tien Long. They continued to argue heatedly in fouling situations, including a confrontation between Fischer and Juan.

The win for Hanoi FC helps them move up from 7th place to 3 points, bringing them level with Hagal, Harry Phang, Bac Ninh, Thi Cong, and Danang. However, they remain in 13th position due to goal difference. Whereas, Dong Nai is still in last place without points. Hanoi FC is on top with 9 points, having won 3 matches.

What will happen next

Now Hanoi FC needs to maintain their form and deliver consistent performances in the upcoming matches. Coach Harry Kewell will get a chance to focus on the improvement of the players during the national team's break. If the team is able to adjust to their new players, such as Kevin Felida and Andrew Jung, their season outlook could be positive.
