Haller bids farewell to FC Utrecht and heads for Asian adventure

Sébastien Haller has said goodbye to FC Utrecht on social media. The 32-year-old striker is preparing for a new romantic adventure in Japan. Haller's departure from FC Utrecht was already clear. He played for the Domstedeling in two stints over a total of 4.5 years. Haller scored 58 goals in 149 matches. Once again, he thanked his supporters.

"It's time for me to say goodbye," Haller wrote on Instagram. "Utrecht will always hold a special place in my heart. My return here was a decision from my heart, and I leave with pride that I wrote a new chapter in the history of this club in my own way."

Last season, Haller did not get as much playing time as he had hoped. "I wanted to contribute more. But one thing is certain: I always gave everything. Above all, I cherish the warm welcome that my family and I received. Utrecht will always be a second home for us," said Haller, who ended his message with the famous Utrecht slogan 'Uuuuuuu'.

Nothing has been officially announced about Haller's future, but according to Italian media, he is going to play in Japan. The former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund striker has raised the possibility of joining a new club with Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Haller is set to sign a one-year contract with the current J1 League Group B fourth-placed team, with an option for a further year.
