Eintracht Frankfurt have decided to take a serious risk by making Kaua Santos the No. 1 goalkeeper for next season. Santos has suffered repeated knee injuries over the past year, making his situation worrying.
Kaua Santos again injured his knee after only 16 seconds in a game against Freiburg on 1 March 2026. This injury forced him to be out for the entire season. Santos had already broken the posterior cruciate-band of his right knee on 17 April 2025. Since then, his sporting journey has seen ups and downs.
Santos' performance has been quite shaky, causing him to lose his spot to Michael Zetterer. Zetterer has been mediocre, but Santos has better potential. Santos' performance is still a matter of concern, as his grading score is 4.07.
Despite this, Eintracht decided to keep Santos as goalkeeper for the next season. This is a big risk, as Santos's fitness is in question due to his injuries.
There is also talk at the club that Zetterer, who is 30, could leave the club after one season. This will force the club to look for a new goalkeeper who can fill Santos' void.
