Latest transfer: Awortwie-Grant moves from Cottbus to Paderborn

Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant enjoyed a stellar season in the 2. Bundesliga with Cottbus and is now ready for a new challenge. The towering 25-year-old defender has signed for SC Paderborn in a bid to secure a move to the Bundesliga. SC Paderborn's sporting director, Sebastian Lange, said, "Nyame caught everyone's attention with his excellence last season. He is a fast, strong and dynamic defender who still has a lot of room for development."

Awortwie-Grant played for VfL Pfullingen before joining Cottbus the previous year, and Cottbus purchased him from Stuttgart Kickers for a sum of just 75,000 euros. Now, with Paderborn moving to the Bundesliga, Awortwie-Grant faces another challenge. He played 33 matches for Cottbus, appearing in the first eleven 31 times, and providing 1 assist.

However, there was no clause in his contract with Cottbus to play in the 2. Bundesliga, making it possible for him to move to Paderborn without a transfer fee. This will be Awortwie-Grant's first experience in the Bundesliga, as he has no previous experience of playing in any of the highest level leagues. He has the experience of playing 3 DFB-Pokal matches and 45 matches in the Regionalliga Südwest in the last Drittliga season.
