Germany beats Cura Sao 7-1, first match of World Cup 2026

Germany registered a spectacular win in the opening match of Group E of the World Cup 2026 by defeating Cure Sao 7-1.

On 14 June 2026, Germany defeated Curaçao 7–1 in the first match of Group E of the World Cup 2026. This match was played at NRG Stadium in Houston, USA. The main referee of this match was Jalal Zayed (Morocco).

Felix Nmecha scored the first goal for Germany early in the match, in the sixth minute. After this, Cura Sao's Livano Comanecia scored a counter goal in the 21st minute. But in the 38th minute, Nico Schlotterbach scored Germany's second goal. At 45+5 minutes, Kai Havertz converted the penalty to give Germany a 3–1 lead.

In the second half, Jamal Musiala scored the fourth goal in the 47th minute. Nathaniel Brown scored the fifth goal for Germany in the 68th minute. In the 78th minute, Deniz Undav scored the team's sixth goal and finally in the 88th minute, Kai Havertz scored his second goal and scored the seventh goal for Germany.

With the win, Germany topped the Group E points table with three points, while Cura Sao is fourth without any points. The next match in Group E will see Ecuador and Côte d'Ivoire face each other on June 15. Germany's next match will be against Côte d'Ivoire on June 20 and the third match will be against Ecuador on June 25.

The group stage will run from June 11 to 27, where each team will play three matches against each other. The knockout stage will feature the two best teams from each group as well as the eight best teams in three places.
